This trip will forever be in my heart

By MALLORY ECKLUND

In 2012 I was lucky enough to be a part of Inspire 180’s trip to Kenya. At this point in my life I was on my second year of not finding a full time teaching job and being a substitute teacher. I was feeling defeated and to the point of questioning whether teaching was for me or not. When the opportunity came up to go to Kenya and be a part of a team that was working in schools, I knew I couldn’t pass the trip up.

My trip to Kenya was the most rewarding and life-changing trip I have ever taken. This trip stopped me from questioning my future and reminded me that God has a plan for everyone.

Being a part of the Inspire 180 team was such a blessing. They prepared us as much as they could for our travels and what we would encounter. Although it was a lot of culture shock, God was present and by my side throughout the whole trip, and the children and adults I met on the trip were so welcoming and happy.

“This trip stopped me from questioning my future and reminded me that God has a plan for everyone.”

This trip will forever be in my heart and I am forever grateful to inspire 180 and the Mohr family for giving me the opportunity to experience it!
